GotFlowers Gift Card FAQ

What type of gift cards does GotFlowers® support
GotFlowers supports physical gift cards with barcodes that can be redeemed seamlessly on both the GotFlowers website and the GotFlowers POS. These cards are durable, wallet-style plastic cards printed by our partner, Plastic Printers, and customized with your shop’s logo and branding.

How does the ordering process work?
You (florist) provides the artwork for the card front (logo, colors, branding).
GotFlowers generates unique barcodes for each card for your account.
We transmit the barcode list directly to Plastic Printers.
Plastic Printers prints the cards and ships them directly to your flower shop.
Your gift cards are immediately usable online and in-store.

Why is the “A Real Florist®” logo printed on the back of the card?
The “A Real Florist®” logo is part of GotFlowers’ authentication system.
It confirms that:

  • The card was produced through an approved GotFlowers + Plastic Printers workflow.
  • The barcode is correctly formatted for GotFlowers systems.
  • Your shop—and customers—won’t run into issues caused by third-party or unauthorized cards.
  • This prevents situations where florists buy cards elsewhere, use incompatible barcodes, and later experience scanning failures. The logo ensures every card is genuine, compatible, and supported.

Can I buy gift cards from another vendor?
For reliability and security, we only support cards printed through our approved production process with Plastic Printers. Cards purchased elsewhere will not scan or redeem in the GotFlowers POS or website because:

  • The barcodes will not match our format.
  • The cards will not carry the “A Real Florist®” authentication.
  • The data mapping to your shop’s account will be missing.
  • Using unauthorized cards may result in errors or declined redemptions.

How are barcodes created?Upon completing an order at PlasticPrinters, GotFlowers generates barcodes for each card using your shop’s unique ID and our secure, internal encoding format. This ensures each card:

  • Is unique
  • Is traceable
  • Syncs instantly with your gift-card balance database
  • Can be redeemed online, in-store, or over the phone

How do customers redeem a GotFlowers gift card?

  • Online:
Customers enter the card number during checkout, and the system validates the balance automatically.
  • In-Shop / At POS:
Your staff can scan the barcode using any standard barcode reader, or manually type the number if needed.
Balances update instantly across your entire GotFlowers platform.

Can gift cards be reloaded?Yes. Shops can reload existing cards directly through the point-of-sale screen. Reloads are immediately reflected online and in-store.

What happens if a card is lost or damaged?
Gift cards can be reissued or replaced only if the original card number and proof of purchase are available. For security, we cannot replace cards without verification.

What is the turnaround time for card printing?
Most orders ship within 7–10 business days once artwork is approved. Rush production may be available from Plastic Printers upon request.

Does GotFlowers store customer gift card balances?
Yes. All balances are securely stored in your GotFlowers dashboard and sync in real time across your website and POS. You’ll always have a full audit trail of:

  • Issuance
  • Redemption
  • Reloads
  • Refund-to-gift-card transactions

Do gift cards expire?
By default, GotFlowers can set no expiration date, but shops may apply expiration rules if local law permits. We recommend checking your state’s regulations before setting an expiration policy.

Can gift cards be used for delivery fees or taxes?
Yes. Customers can apply their gift card balance to any charge on the order—products, delivery fees, timed fees, and taxes.

Can I sell gift cards online
Absolutely. You can offer digital or physical gift cards directly from your GotFlowers dashboard. Customers can choose pickup, shipping, or mailing options.

Is there an additional fee to use GotFlowers gift cards?
There is a one time fee of $100 which is waived through a signup by December 31st.  You only pay for the printing cost of the physical cards from Plastic Printers.

Is there a minimum order quantity?
The starting quantity is 25.

How much does it cost?
The actual cost varies based on quantity and degree of customization of the card.
